About the Hooks — Read This
These come with plain, unbranded light-wire trebles. Not VMC, not Gamakatsu, not Mustad — and we are not going to print those names here to make the kit sound like something it isn't.
They are sharp out of the package and they are plenty for what this kit is for: bluegill, perch, creek smallmouth, white bass, crappie and average pond largemouth. They are not enough for a five-pounder. If you hook one, back the drag off and don't horse it.
If you fish water that grows big fish, put four dollars of replacement trebles in the five lipless baits and fish the rest as they come. That's the honest version.
What Rod This Needs
The popper and the sinking minnow weigh about 3 grams — roughly half what most bass gear is built to throw. They need a light or medium-light spinning rod with 4–8 lb mono, or light braid with a 6–8 lb leader.
On a medium-heavy rod with 30 lb braid you'll get fifteen-yard casts and hate them. The lipless at 3/8 oz throws fine on anything.
Monofilament is the better choice for the popper — it floats and won't pull the nose under.

THE WHOLE POINT
Three Depths, One Rod
A popper on top, a sinking minnow through the middle, a lipless along the bottom. Between them they cover a creek or a farm pond from the surface to the gravel.

HOW TO FISH IT
What Each Set Is For
Surface, middle and bottom — the three ways a creek or a pond gets covered.

On top — the popper
Small enough that a hand-size bluegill can actually eat it, big enough that a pond bass will commit. Spits and chugs on a twitch. Best the first and last hour of light, over pond edges, creek pools and bank grass.

Through the middle — the sinking minnow
Not a topwater. No lip, doesn't float, won't walk the dog. Cast it, count it down, reel it slow. It runs just under the surface at speed and fades deeper as you slow down. Most bites come on the pause, as it falls.

Along the bottom — the lipless crankbait
The searching bait of the three. Burn it over shallow grass in one to four feet, rip it free of the grass edges, or yo-yo it in four to ten feet. The bite comes on the fall. Sized for fall shad, when the bait in the backs of the creeks is small.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these big enough for bass?
For pond and creek bass, yes — a 1.5 in popper and a 2.5 in lipless catch largemouth and smallmouth all season. For big-fish water where five-pounders are the target, this is not the kit. It's a numbers kit, and we'd rather say that than sell you the wrong thing.
What rod do I need?
A light or medium-light spinning rod with 4–8 lb mono or light braid. Two of the three sets weigh about 3 grams, which is half what most bass gear throws. On heavy tackle they simply won't cast.
Can I use them in saltwater?
We wouldn't. These are freshwater baits with freshwater hardware — the hooks and split rings will rust, and the hooks aren't built for saltwater fish. Rinse and dry them even in fresh water and they'll last.
Is the sinking minnow a topwater?
No. It has no lip, it does not float, and it won't walk the dog. You cast it, count it down and reel it slow — the bite comes on the pause as it falls.
